In Her Shoes (2005)

Ok, so what are movie reviews doing here at my blog? Well, I have to tell everyone that I do have a personal place in my heart and in my time devoted to Movies. I always take time once in a while to reserve a ticket to enter a different world, a different place, and most of the time, a different role, in front of the TV or the Movies. In this case, I do have an Excel File here on my Laptop (Which is about 5 years old now) and I call it the Steven's Movie Database, SMD for short. Movies I have already watched are listed and scored on different criteria as to present the Movies which I really loved and as well, the movies I dreaded and regret I have watched.

Even in my High School and College Days, whenever I watched something that I really like or interested me much, I make it a point to share it to a friend, the feeling I get while I'm soaked up into this pensieve of scenes from the screen as I run with the characters, laugh with them and even cry with them (Most of the time, I have to admit, I do). So from Now on, I'm bringing the practice here at my Blog thus to share it with you all about my movie experiences. But of course, as I post here, you are ensured that the scores are on the latest and not the recycled ones from SMD which means I'll be watching these movies, for the first time or for the nth time, fresh to be reviewed for everyone.

PS. This is my Blog and the way I score these movies are to my own satisfaction. I won't be caring a bit if you think my reviews are not suitable for your own taste. But if it does, then be my guest, these are for you guys!

In Her Shoes is a good movie I can say, something better than Good I have to say. The story of these sisters are just really heart-warming. I really like the fact that one single moment, should I call it an accident, hmmm no but yes as well, can change both of their lives. One living in the shoes of the other, not literally actually but living the ways of the other. Rose (Toni Collette), the dull, busy lawyer and Maggie (Cameron Diaz) the bubbly, dyslexic unemployed are two worlds apart but even from the beginning, you really can tell that they do love each other. Yet events stirred up things that lead them to think how much they are lacking without the other. How their feet perfectly fit with the same size. They are their life's meaning. they are what the other is.

I really admire the insertion of poetry and literature in the movie's story and script by including two great poems by Alexander Pope and E.E. Cummings. By watching this for the first time, a few five years ago as I can remember, I started the fond of reading poetry because this movie made me thought of every line to these two poems and felt it really in my heart. Just like the old man said in the movie to Maggie, Poetry is supposed to be slow, to be read, to be felt. I had the same feeling and I exactly grasped the heart of the poems especially as Cameron Read it. I especially like the one by E.E. Cummings and I would like to share it with you:

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

In every end of my Movie Reviews, I will be grading the movie as to my own Criteria on how I think Movies are good to my own taste. I will be rating it from 1 to 5, 5 being the Highest and 1 being the Lowest.
