I am turning into a BIG Taylor Swift Fan because her songs are just Amazing, given the fact that she wrote them all by herself and that it is based on her real life. So I was listening to her Speak Now Album until I stumbled to the song "Long Live". This was recommended by one of my Students, Donna, and so I decided to give it a try. During the past month, Aside from Taylor Swift, I went crazy with the Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins (You can see it in this Blog actually)
The lyrics are just so fit to the most memorable scenes of the movie. It's like whenever it plays, I do get a Theatrical Trailer playing in my mind complete with all the dramatic scenes from the Book. That's the wonderful thing about reading books aside from just watching them in movies and on screen. You get your mind to work extra because you don't just comprehend dialogues and scenes, you get to think of them in your very own way, the way you prefer how the characters look like with the help of the Author's description and this song really made me feel like that.
Long Live by Taylor Swift
I said remember this moment
In the back of my mind
The time we stood with our shaking hands
The crowds and stands went wild
We were the Kings and the Queens
And they read off our names
The night you danced like you knew our lives
Would never be the same
You held your head like a hero
On a history book page
It was the end of a decade
But the start of an age
Long live the walls we crashed through
How the kingdom lights shined just for me and you
I was screaming long live all the magic we made
And bring on all the pretenders
One day we will be remembered
I said remember this feeling
I passed the pictures around
Of all the years that we stood there
On the side-lines wishing for right now
We are the Kings and the Queens
You traded your baseball cap for a crown
When they gave us our trophies
And we help them up for our town
And the cynics were outraged
Screaming this is absurd
Cause for a moment a band of thieves
In ripped up jeans got to rule the world
Long live the walls we crashed through
How the kingdom lights shined just for me and you
I was screaming long live all the magic we made
And bring on all the pretenders
I'm not afraid
Long live all the mountains we moved
I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you
I was screaming long live the look on your face
And bring on all the pretenders
One day we will be remembered
Hold on
Just spinning around
Confetti falls to the ground
May these memories break our fall
Can you take a moment, promise me this
That you'll stand by me forever
But if God forbid fate should step in
And force us into a goodbye
If you have children some day
When they point to the pictures
Please tell them my name
Tell them how the crowds went wild
Tell them how I hope they shine
Long live the walls we crashed through
I had the time of my life with you
Long, long live the walls we crashed through
How the kingdom lights shined just for me and you
I was screaming long live all the magic we made
And bring on all the pretenders
I'm not afraid
Singing long live all the mountains we moved
I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you
Long, long live the look on your face
And bring on all the pretenders
One day we will be remembered
Most of the scenes from the book that truly relives in my mind from the beginning of the song is when they were called to be tributes from their first Hunger Games. They were really nervous even until they get to the Capitol then they were forced to hold hands as they walked through the crowds and everyone was so happy! Up until they were crowned as visitors and they had the time of their lives fighting dragons, in their case different obstacles, together with each other. Katniss and Peeta will always be my heroes and they will now be part of my life and this song will truly remind me of that each and every time. They will always remembered and in my heart, long live.
