Anaheim, California, USA (June 2015)
It's been a couple of hours past 12 midnight and I still can't put myself to sleep! My body is ready for it but my mind just can't stop processing, so I thought I might write something here.
2015 has been a great year, I must call it a transition year. As they say, in with the new and out with the old. but before I officially welcome the new year that we are all living in at the moment, let me recount just a few major things that happened to me last year.
1. Resigned from DLSU-D
This was bittersweet, truly, honestly, it really is. Hard to say goodbye to my home for more than 9 years both as a student and as a professor. Hard to detach myself from the friends I made in and out of class. But most of it all, hard to imagine my life without students in front of me, listening attentively not just to my lessons but also to the corniest of jokes I make. Sweet and exciting because I have no idea what lies ahead after my years as a teacher. Shall I be a programmer? An auditor? A writer? Or still teaching students on a different setting. All I know that time is that God has something bigger for me and I have to discern what it is myself.
2. Back in the United States after almost 20 years
The trip was really a once in a lifetime adventure for me. My first connecting flights, seeing my brothers and my family out there after a long time, and embarking on adventures I failed to appreciate during my earliest years in America. I spent the whole months of June and July trudging major cities on the west coast including San Diego, Los Angeles, Seattle, and San Francisco. It was an amazing experience and I can't wait (hopefully) to explore more of America some days soon.
3. My Grandmother passed away
A week after I got home from the states, my grandma got really sick and she spent months in and out of the hospital until she finally laid to rest last October 4th, the feast of our city's patron Saint Francis of Assisi. It was a peaceful exit after 87 years of giving pure love to all of us her family. It hurts so bad, the fact that she left us. But knowing she is free from all of worldly pains and sadness, it relieves my heart.
And now, here I am, writing something through my laptop, hoping for the best of this year for everyone, and most especially to myself. Now I am 25, in my quarter-life, unemployed, but with so much to offer to this world. I hope I'd find something that would definitely add up to my life's delicious recipe and wishing that this year would bring me a lot of ingredients to spice things up.
WELCOME 2016!!!
