Some of my Travels from the First Half of 2025

A lot of changes in my life this year and it kicked of at the first week of the year when I found out that the position I applied to in the organization, despite how far it is from my previous positions and also having zero background on the field, was offered to me. I was super excited and cannot believe it myself! I still am very happy and grateful 4 months after since I started last May though still on this crazy journey of being new to the position and to the workload.

But having said that, I would first like to thank my dearest blog friends for their support from my last couple of posts, and giving me the motivation and advises that I need and will treasure with me as I move forward. But this time, it's about looking back and sharing you some photos from my trips in the past months since the year started.

Kampong Glam, Singapore - January 2025

SINGAPORE - I was so happy when I found a promo fare going home to the Philippines with Singapore Airlines. Normally this airline is very expensive but after tracking cheap fares daily at the second half of the year last year, I stumbled upon this opportunity! Of course, just as I usually do on my layovers home, I looked for an itinerary that has a long layover so that I can visit the connecting city and that's how I end up on the Lion City for 12 hours!

Iloilo City, Philippines - February 2025

ILOILO, PHILIPPINES - I was home at the beginning of the year. Gratefully, I try to go home once every year to see my father. As much as I really feel that Spain is my home now, being able to have the opportunity to see my father and my family and also my childhood friends is deeply gratifying. For this trip, I took my father, my brother, and my cousin to an Island province 1 hour away from Manila by plane and we had a great time!

La Grotte de Choranche, France - March 2025

CHORANCHE, FRANCE - It was my very first Workshop for work just before I left my old team. So I was in Grenoble for a week and I stayed a few more days to spend time with my colleagues who live there who are also like family to me on this new life in Europe. My best friend and his wife and baby took me to this beautiful Cave in the Vercors mountains. It was so amazing and beautiful! I-m afraid of caves in the Philippines but this one it was lovely and dry when we visited.

Perpignan, France - April 2025

PERPIGNAN, FRANCE - This trip was a quickly planned weekend because it was Good Friday and I had nothing to do in Barcelona so I decided to buy a bus ticket just nights before the trip and it was great! Perpignan can be doable on a day trip from Barcelona but I stayed for a night just to make the most of the long weekend. Here you will see my VLOG Episode from my YouTube Channel that I filmed during my stay in Perpignan. You'll see more of me on this adventure and hope you enjoy the episode! WATCH IT ON 4K!

Bologna, Italy - June 2025

BOLOGNA, ITALY - To celebrate my birthday, I am so thankful to my best friend Ervis who is like a real brother to me. He was my teammate from my last position and even if we parted ways at work, he's always been there for me! He took me with him on his trip back home to Albania and we did the drive from France to Albania for 5 amazing days! This one was from our first stop in Bologna enjoying a giant cold beer (I asked him for just the smallest one!) in the plaza. Bologna was so beautiful!

It has been so nice to share these memories and adventures to you and it was also shocking for me to look back and see how much places and journeys I have done in just this year and that still does not include the remainder of our trip through the Balkans and my adventure in Romania last month!

I hope you enjoyed reading as much as I was when writing it and I wish you all an amazing week ahead! Work starts again soon but I still have a few hours to enjoy the rest of Sunday and I hope I won't be able to think of work thoughts all the time before tomorrow morning!

Pictures from Verona

Last June, my teammate from work who became one of my bestest friends, let me tag along on his trip home to his country by land so that I could also celebrate my birthday with him because he's basically like family to me. For the first stop of our 4 day drive to the Balkans, we stopped at Verona. It was a quiet city compared to the big giants like Roma, Milano, or Venezia but it was really beautiful!

Here are some pictures from my camera - unprocessed and unaltered - that I would love to share with you all from the City of Love!

“There is no world without Verona walls,
But purgatory, torture, hell itself.
Hence banished is banish'd from the world,
and world's exile is death.

Christmas Ornaments - Timeless Thursdays 24

11/12/2020 - At the moment we are being banged by scary winds and rain, please pray for the Philippines. 5th typhoon in 2 weeks, this is a very strong one we have now.

Christmas is almost around the corner. In the Philippines, Christmas begins at September 1st until the feats of the Epiphany on January 6th. During this time, streets are lighted with Christmas lights and different displays. But of course, this year would be very different because it's almost the middle of November but houses are still not lit yet (I can't speak with my eyes since I still can't go outside often, but speaking from my updates from my Filipino friends)

Whenever I travel, I always make sure I take home a little something from that country that I visited. Before, I used to hoard a lot of stuff but after 10 years of travelling, I realize I don't need a lot of souvenirs, I just need at least one or two that I can treasure forever. On my trip to Europe, since it was during the last three weeks of December, there are Christmas Markets in almost every city I visited. Too bad I wasn't able to see one in Amsterdam, my first stop out of Paris, but I found my first one in Milan.

A Christmas elf boy ornament I got near the Duomo

I was so happy to see this one on the store. It's a bit unusual for me to see a lot of witch inspired ornaments and decorations on sale at the market dressed up on festive and colorful dresses, but as a traveler who's eyes are open to different cultures and perspectives, I really appreciate seeing them as well. I think I got this for 4 euros a piece so I bought two, one for me and another for my brother's friend who was hosting me in Milan for my 12 hour stop in the city.

The Charles bridge and Prague's Astronomical Tower

On my stop at Prague, I did not miss getting one of course at the Christmas market in the old town square. It was packed with people but everyone was happy as a system of speakers blow out joyous carols which heightens the Christmas feeling! That moment made me realize that I really was on a Christmas Village, something I used to build at home using ceramic figures of shops and churches and stuff. I was there, on the real thing! And as a remembrance of that magical moment, I got this beautiful hand-painted ornament from a very kind Czech uncle who even agreed to have a photo taken with me. His work will forever be treasured on my tree.

Beautiful handmade Czech Christmas ornaments made by this Uncle

Ornaments are just simple things that adds beauty and color to a Christmas tree. Not everyone appreciates these little trinkets the way I do, but knowing all the stories behind every special ornament is a timeless spirit that will forever be attached to each of these. Hope I can bring more from my future travels and add it to my tree every Christmas season to add more joy and cheer to my holidays.

By the way, I would like to share with everyone this beautiful Disney short animated film made by Disney UK that tells a story about a Filipino Grandma and her granddaughter living somewhere in London. It was trending here in the Philippines and in the Filipino community around the world and it really touched a lot of hearts, mine included! Always wanted a Disney movie about our culture, and thanks to Disney UK, we had a very good taste of it this Christmas! Watch it below.

And another thing my friends! I was featured on Becky's Blog about World Superstitions where she invited me to be part of her collaborative post about different beliefs in the world. Of course I shared something about our own culture here in the Philippines. Check out the 10th edition of her series on this link: Trekking with Becky

Roman Holiday - Timeless Thursdays 9

This Thursday, I'll bring you back to the not so distant past, just six months ago, last Winter, in Italy. Rome is such a dream, not just for me but for a lot of people who are in love with its history, its grandeur, its beauty. To be able to share this trip with my cousin Carmina is such a blessing. She has been sent by her company to Italy for half a year on a special assignment, and just as her past assignments in Japan, I have always been honored to be her constant visitor.

Oh looking back at these photos made me feel like a model with that same black coat. I only brought two coats on my three week trip. I left my leather coat at my friend's house in Paris, and I just took this black fleece one since I only had a backpack from my Milan-Rome-Brussels-Prague leg of my trip. So proud of myself for living a week with just a backpack worth of clothes, thanks to my cousin's awesome villa, I got to use her laundry machine every single day!

I won't be saying much on this post, but I will let these shots of me tell you the story of how amazing my winter in Rome was. All of these photos were taken by my awesome photographer, Ate Carmina. Grazie Mille Ate Carmina!

As the Coronavirus spreads across the world, outside China, it is Italy experiencing the worst by the number of its deaths and cases. I was there last December and I only hope and pray for the best for Italy and each and every country in the world, especially our country the Philippines which is starting to be consumed at a very fast rate as well.

Holiday Dinner at Lo Zodiaco, Rome

Me with the Viniegras at Ristorante Lo Zodiaco, Rome, Italy - Christmas Day 2019

Just as most of you know through my past posts, I spent three weeks of my holiday vacation last December, which includes Christmas and New Year's in Europe on a dream trip that took me almost 3 weeks. Since I still wanted to celebrate Christmas with family, and one of my favorite cousins, Carmina, was assigned to Rome for a special project by her company, I asked her if I can spend Christmas with her. She has always been supportive of my dreams and aside from saying yes, she also brought her parents to Rome to celebrate the holidays with her!

That night of Christmas Day, we celebrated it with a delicious and romantic Italian Dinner at a special place called Monte Mario that has an amazing view of Rome since it's situated on top of the mountain. Ate Min chose this place, Ristorante Lo Zodiaco because of the amazing food and spectacular night view of the whole city. This bar and restaurant serves traditional Italian food and drinks which will color your night with vibrant flavors!

Here are some of the dishes we ordered as we celebrate the birth of Jesus with delicious food and happy smiles.

Spaghetti Cacio, Pepe, e Menta (€12)

I ordered this dish as recommended by Ate Carmina (Filipino 101 - Ate means big sister or a Filipino term added to the beginning of a name if you are talking about an older lady. Kuya is the male counterpart). Cacio e Pepe is one of the traditional roman pasta flavors simply made with pepper and different cheeses. Sounds very simple but it's the way they make it that makes it very special. Asking me about it's taste? Rich and very flavorful! I am devoted to cheese as one of the best things on earth ever been made and this one is a perfect match for me!

Spaghetti alla Carbonara Tartufati (€12)

This one was what my Aunt, Mama Vicky's ordered for herself. Carbonara is another one of the roman basics which is also famous in the Philippines. Although the Filipino version is very saucy and is actually close to Pasta Alfredo as compared to this authentic Carbonara which is not cream based but actually flavored with cheese and eggs. This was a little bit salty to my taste but of course, the cheese makes it golden!

Risotto ai Fruitti di Mare (€25)

This one was a special dish that was offered to us by the server lady which was not on their menu. It is a very colorful and flavorful seafood dish that can either be served over pasta or risotto. Ate Carmina opted for the Risotto since almost all our dishes are pasta. Not much of a fan of seafood, still I tried to taste the broth which was very flavorful, perfect for seafood lovers.

Bistecca di Manzo (gr. 300) alla Griglia (€25)

Papa Bogie, my uncle, wanted a beef dish so he opted for this sizzling grilled beef steak. It was a big slab of meat, seasoned and cooked perfectly. It looks very pretty with the colors of the sides it was served with but my camera phone was poor in low lighting conditions hahaha

Full Window View of Rome inside Ristorante Lo Zodiaco

We had an amazing meal inside the Lo Zodiaco with an amazing view of Rome. It was a very chilly evening outside since it was winter plus the fact that Monte Mario is a mountain and the restaurant is situated near its peak so make sure to bring a jacket, especially if you wish to do sightseeing outside the restaurant. I think it was 5 degrees Celsius, but of course, inside the restaurant it is heated and very cozy.

Special thanks to my cousin Ate Carmina for this hearty dinner, for my amazing Roman Holiday, and for always being a supportive sister especially to my dreams of circling the globe! I'll never forget these memories.
