Baby Photos - Timeless Thursdays 3

I took out an old photo album from a shelf from my parent's bedroom. I wonder what it has but I do know it contains old photos. On the cover of the album was my name "Stevenson" handwritten by my late mother. Flipping the cover revealed photos of a baby, and since it has my name on the cover, this should be me. Of course I was unrecognizable, not only because it was a baby, but because I grew really big so my features have changed, except for my complexion and my eye color.

According to that card above that crib on the nursery, I was born at 2:25 in the afternoon on that June day. I was one of the babies who marked a new decade. I am so amazed on how tiny I am on that photo, I was so cute I think. When I was kid, they kept telling me that I look different, they say I look like an "anak ng kano" or an American child. I guess it's my fair skin, which was different than most babies here in the country right after getting out. My mom had several miscarriages before me so my age is a bit far from my older brothers, and if any of those miscarriages did not happen, I may not be here.

On the left photo, you can see my first visitors a few days after I was born. There's my Aunt Fausta and her daughter, My mom, my cousin Teena, my God mother Marcy and her daughter, and my Dad. My Older brother Erson beside me on the bed. On the right photo, it's my brothers Erson, Wilson, and my Mom. Oh I miss these moments when I get to feel comfortable in their bed and on their room.

My parent's bedroom has always been open for everyone. Cousins, friends, kids - we all grew up on our parent's bedroom. My mom had been blessed with a lot of loving friends and family who always finds comfort being in that room, and I will always remember it with these tiny floral Victorian wallpaper. My mom loved my cousins so much even when they had their own families so whenever they visit our house (we live at our Grandma's house), they always visit her in her room, especially when she was already ailing and cannot go downstairs often anymore.

On the left photo is me and my Paternal grandmother. She is the biggest reason why I am here as I am right now. She put me to school and she helped me be the best that I can be, and I promise her that I will not stop improving myself so she can be proud of me. I love her so much and she has always been there for me especially when I was not feeling well, she always cared for me. I am glad that I was able to take care of her before she left. On the right photo is a 3-month old me according to my Mom's writing on the Album.

  4. I love this so much. The idea that your parents' bedroom was open to all is so lovely. I'm an only child and so seeing all those siblings makes me smile big. And yes, grandmothers are the best and I'm so glad you had a wonderful relationship with yours. She sounds like she was quite a remarkable woman. I'm glad you took care of each other in your own times. (And you were a very cute baby!)

    1. Hello dear Jeanie, Thank you so much for your kind words! You said it very well, my grandmother was truly remarkable and she was able to touch and transform a lot of lives. I will always be thankful to God for giving her a long life (she passed away at 87) which enabled me to spend 25 years of my life with her. I miss her everyday :)

  6. Ohhhh, unlike me you were a very cute baby, Stevenson!
And so tiny, at least you made up! I somehow "forgot" ;-)
Your mother really must´ve been brave and wanted you dearly, I don´t even want to imagine how sad a miscarriage must be.
When my Brother told me his wife had one I couldn´t help but cry... And you speak of plural even.

How different we grew up! Both, my Brother and I had a room on our own from day one.
We were sent to bed, got a little kiss, lights out, stay in bed! If I see you outside you better have a very good reason!

My maternal Grandmother moved to our family´s home to raise us, too. Sadly... Alzheimer´s made her forget about me.
Sad it´s only all but memories, huh, dear friend? But glad we have these photos! Are you close to your Brothers still?

    1. Oh! Sure you were also a cute baby! I saw your photo with your Dad when you were a cute tiny girl! Oh yes, miscarriages are so sad, I had a few former students who had them and it breaks my heart when I remember.

That is so cute! I grew up in my parents' room until I was 11 until they literally moved me out to the other room HAHA.

Thank you so much to these photos, you are right, because we get to see them still. I can;t say I am very close to them but we are compared to other siblings here I guess haha My eldest brothe rlives with us, we live at our grandma's house ever since. My eldest brother cooks super delicious foods and he is thoughtful. And my next brother is living in California for 2 decades now. He lived independently away from us since he was young and he grew up with my uncle and aunt. We were not very close before but since my mom passed away, we grew closer and he is a very cool and funny guy too!

  9. Dearest Stevenson,
Such an album is precious for having! It shows a lot of love form your late Mom and also from your paternal Grandmother, at who's home you actually did live. The bedroom was your Parents' only room of 'privacy' within that home I guess. Not really privacy but it was their space!
We are what our Parents and Grandparents made us to be. It is genetic what we inherited but mainly in what we were shown by example. You no doubt do make them feel proud.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  12. I am happy as well as touched to read the story of your childhood my friend, Stevenson.
I love seeing baby photos as a baby, you are handsome like a baby from Europe and the warmth of your family.
I feel sad too, sorry since you were a child you have passed away by mama.

Greetings to you and your family.
    Take care of yourself.

  13. Cute baby photos. I wish I had more baby photos of me. Back then, my parents couldn't afford a camera. The only time we took photos were special occasions and we had to hire a photographer to come to the house.

I love this idea of Timeless Thursdays. I have to go back to my baul to find old photos.

    Have a great weekend.

  14. Cute baby photos Stevenson.
It's wonderful to look back at old photos and be reminded of the good times we had with family members that are no longer alive.
When I visited the Philippines I noticed that families are very tight knitted which is wonderful.
