Turning Another Page

I would like to apologize for my very long absence and thank everybody who checked on me while I was gone. Been caught up with work and especially now I have been assigned to a new big project which I also have to learn but in a way I am happy because I will be working closely on it with two of my favorite managers so even if it's more work, working with people you like makes it a lot more easier despite the new challenges since we all are still in the beginning phases of its implementation.

So this month of June, I celebrated my 31st birthday and it is such a happy month! It started even early because my cousin's threw a party at my cousin's house (just us a simple afternoon dinner because the covid is still bad here) at the end of May. I am so thankful for my cousins because they really treat me like their own sibling!

Look who's turning to the last day of the calendar!

My sister Carm got us some delicious soft tacos and buffalo wings, while sister Min got me a variety of desserts including this White Chocolate Matcha Mousse cake! I will forever be grateful to these cousins who are my big sisters throughout these years! they became like my fairy godmothers when my Mom passed away and I will forever be grateful!

Then the day of my birthday arrived and my sister Carm and her family took me to lunch! It was the first time I dined-in at a restaurant since the pandemic as far as I can remember. Bamba Bistro was a nice place with amazing food but the best part of it is that tables are spread across the garden with very far distances from groups of not more than 6 so I felt comfortable having lunch despite being a little hot and humid since it's a June morning.

Table warrior getting ready for its prey

I had their Steak à la Manila and it was heavenly! Nothing beats a slab of medium rare! It is served with herbed garlic rice and truffled eggs. grateful for loving sisters and family who went so far beyond just to make my special day extra special!

After our hearty meal and hours of fun conversation, they dropped me home and I did just a few cooking. I prepared some spaghetti, tacos, and nachos because 4 of my high school best friends will arrive and we had an awesome time! They arrived early and helped me with the decorations. I really wanted to visit Mexico before the pandemic as my next big trip but of course, the world had an unwanted visitor so I thought I'd just bring Mexico to my 31st party!

Ready for the Fiesta!

I know that as we age year by year by year, we tend to take our birthdays just like an ordinary day. That's normal, I know. But I refuse to be like that. In the simplest manners that I can do, for as long as I could, I'll make my birthdays more special so I have something to look forward to every single year aside from Christmas. I think both are in a perfect place on the calendar because it's 6 months apart from the next.

Saved you all slices of my virtual cake and thank you all so much for being part of my first 31 years and praying that I get more years to celebrate with my family and friends, and of course, you my blogpals and dear readers! Praying that your upcoming birthdays will be a little more extra special than the last ones.

Never Stop Celebrating!
Steve

  1. Ohhhhh, such a happy pic, dearest lille Bro!!!!
Happy, happy Birthday, to a great new year in your life, "Corinna" or not!
Great pic, you made me giggle with "pride" to know you.

And yay for your new work!!!

And the food. My last tacos I had ten years ago, buhuuu (the Mexican restaurant closed, it was the only good one).

Yes, distance is the key, people don´t get it here...
Prey, you´re too funny! Carnivore, you, LOL. Eggs?! We get garlic-bread with that, from the grill.
You cooked after that?! I´d lay flat with a book in my hands!

Ohhh you do have sweet friends, Amigo, OK, I would cook then, too!
Great cake and last words. So sweet to read this, and glad you´re back, too!

    1. Dearest big sister!!! You always give the most touching messages, thank you so so much and just so you know I am also very proud to have a big sister all the way in Germany!

Yas!!! Everything's the same, just a brand new big task, but I am so happy because I work more closely on it with two of my favorite managers in the company :)

Oh I hope you can get some good tacos again after a decade! I had some too last year on a restaurant ughhh I did not like it! I think mine was a lot better than theirs hahaha

Oh you said it! I felt so sleepy and wanted to snooze right after that but also wanted to chat some more because when I'm with my cousins, we never ran out of topics and laughs hahaha

Sending you hugs dearest Iris and you guys are the reason why I keep going back and find the joy again in blogging :)

I think you will have to make me a taco some time, chances are low to get a good one here... Have a nice day, lille Bro!

  3. Nice to see you back Stevenson. Happy belated birthday! You certainly had two great celebrations. Love the Mexican themed party, great fun.
I love to celebrate birthdays too. Interesting how the wording on the cake is in Spanish, I thought there would be a Tagalog saying for "Happy birthday" :) Have a great year, and congratulations on the new project.

Oh thank you so much! I loooved the Mexican theme and now my friends are even asking me what will be my next theme hahaha Well I hope the next year's theme will be me travelling but we can only dream here in the Philippines so probably have to ponder what country I would like to "visit next" haha

Oh you are right! In Tagalog, Happy birthday is "Maligayang Kaarawan" :) Just thought the Spanish to stick to the theme :)

  10. Congrats on your birthday. We celebrated our 61st Wedding Anniversary on June 1, so you were born at around the halfway point in our marriage. That Mexican outfit and the setting are way over the top. Great seeing you back but do give priority to your work projects.
